Beschreibung
The Chablis wine region is not only a geographical location, but also a geological wonder. Formed 155 million years ago from marine deposits, algae and mussel shells, the soil of Chablis provides a unique basis for growing Chardonnay.
The uniqueness of geology
The geology of Chablis is rich in iodine and marine sediments, which give an incomparable note to the Chardonnay that grows here. This heritage is absorbed by the roots of the vines and manifests itself in every sip of the wine.
The perfect climate for Chardonnay
The semi-continental climate of Chablis ensures excellent ripening of the Chardonnay grapes. It enables the ideal balance between sweetness and a salty, fresh note that makes Chablis wines so desirable.
Domaine Billaud-Simon is located in the heart of this spectacular region, flanked by the banks of the Serein. All of the Domaine's vineyards are located within a radius of just two kilometers and are part of this historic appellation.
variety of Crus
The domaine is the proud owner of four Grands Crus - Les Clos, Vaudésir, Les Preuses, Les Blanchots - and four Premiers Crus - Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Mont de Milieu and Les Vaillons. But that's not all. The domaine also produces the special Chablis "Tête d'Or", a cuvée created from the best plots.
The importance of old vines
The "vieilles vignes" or old vines of the Domaine Billaud-Simon are an invaluable asset. Tended with care and skill, they contribute to the quality of each individual wine.
Partnerships and Diversity
Conclusion
More than just a wine, the Billaud-Simon Chablis 2020 is the result of a unique geological history, climatic perfection and the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into every aspect of wine production.
